Art journal class -- click to go to it....$25.00 and until Aug 30 receive an additional 10% off with coupon code summerfun. learn to make 5 different books from hard back books...turn discarded books into your art journals and/or scrapbooks....5 ways....some are quick and easy and some are a little more involved but all are affordable and doable and can be repeated and given as gifts. i find books free or for $2.00 or less at thrift stores and garage sales.....join the class anytime and it is available for a year....
honestly these little books have so many uses and potential. the subtle reminder to always share OUR stories through art journaling, pictures and words....our stories are just as important as the novels/books we read. and sometimes i worry that none of us believe in our selves enough to make books that tell (in art and words) who we are.

Join me and tell your story through art, words and or pictures.

art journals video 1

click here to open in separate window art journals video 1

this first video is an over view of the projects we will be creating in the art journal class. you can purchase the class here in my etsy shop jeaniesdesigns.

this does not show everything but will help you understand the projects. You will need 4 books get them from garage sales, thrift stores or your own all ready read hardback books. we will learn 4 different ways to use them and make them into our stories and art journals. you do NOT have to do all 4 styles....the book with binder mechanism costs more so if that is not in the budget make more of the other styles....be flexible and be frugal and use what you have in your stash.

so must have items to start with:
old books
cardstock--  white, cream, black or kraft....you can also use scrapbook paper (but cardstock weight not                       the thin unless using for decoration)
modge podge type adhesive MATTE if possible

to get you started on the insides:
gesso
card stock, watercolor paper, scrapbook paper
embellishments
pages cut from the books
paint-3 of your favorite colors plus white and/or cream
if you don't have paint but you do have water color crayons you can use these!!!
paper doileys

we WILL build on the insides and decorating the outsides as we go.
i will provide some printables of my art to help with the creating parts.

more supply videos to come....

dreams

dreaming a dream does not make it happen....getting out of your comfort zone and working for it might just make the dream come true. I have decided to get brave and out of my comfort zone and work on my dreams. no more letting life run over my dreams i am letting my dreams run all over my life instead.

exciting things are happening...(one of them has to wait just a bit to be reveled)

so first of all i took fabric design with Carina Gardner and created a nursery line--just a couple of changes to make then i will upload to spoonflower.com  and decorate Luke and Evan's nursery with

second i get to add this badge to my blog

Susan has been so kind a person to me and when she announced a guest designer call i finally ordered some of her stamps from Unity and got to work (ideas posted in previous post)....then i got brave and actually sent pictures of the ideas to her! the announce is on her blog mysweetearth

and now i am working hard to build my portfolio and am taking the class make art that sells at

why all the doing? because dreaming a dream does not make it happen but working hard towards a dream can make it a reality.

"if you want something you've never had you've got to do something you've never done..."

one more announcement coming soon....

New projects

Hi Everyone,
thanks for coming by! I love deep etched red rubber stamps to use on projects and Unity stamp co has some great ones. Let me share some by Susan K Weckesser . I know Susan from facebook and love her kind heart....her blog is here. She is a watercolor artist and designer.
I decided to make a few things with her stamps. (i didn't have any of her paper though)

I made a charm using Poised and Pretty and added it to a necklace i made...the background paper is by We r Memory keepers 6x6 Anthologie pad.

Next up are 2 cards and tag.  the red dress card: i stamp one of the Poised and Pretty dresses on WRMemory 6x6 Anthologie papers, stained the silk seam binding with faded jeans stain by tim holtz, made a charm to hang on it, layered flower print from WRMemory 6x6 Anthologie pad and one i designed from my boys to men digital kit.
the second card uses pattern paper i designed from vintage patterns, a printed image from graphics fairy, and a quote from Dr. suess. I also used some ink from color box {Clearsnap}.

for this tag i used an image i printed from the graphic fairy, scrap paper piece i got off the floor (how lucky it matched), tim holtz tissue tape and Susan's stamp set a little bit washi. I added the metal frame (tim holtz) and stained the silk seam binding with walnut stain stain.....

SMILE =0)
on a personal note i am engraving dream big on the back of the charm and have added charms to represent Paris and London...cause i want to go there someday.

you can find another project on moments along the journey blog!

printables and sample

green card from hobby lobby pad of paper, blue card stock American crafts,  jeaniesdesigns printable, silk seam binding, Heidi Swapp flower (michael's),  Mixed Media ink- peridoto and jazmin, green archival ink from clearsnap (no color on it), plum tattered angels mist.
I used the mixed media ink to go around the edge of the green card and  the green archival ink to go around the girl print. I used plum mist to color flower then add a little Jazmin MM inx....i got mist on the ribbon so just went with it....added just alittle

items used: white and blue (American crafts) card stock, jeaniesdesigns printable, mess dry wall tape, silk seam binding, Color shine chartreuse spray, exacto knife and mat.

I spray mess dry wall tape with chartreuse color shine used dry baby wipe to clear excess up and used that to go around the edge of print. cut girls out with scissors then cut small areas (in between arms with exacto knife) used foam tape to raise girls up off of the mess dry wall tape and ribbon then added a bargin flower.

jeaniesdesigns girl printable coming to my Etsy shop.....you receive both pages in the download print and make cards or put in frames for gifts.....$4.00

another idea add to your art journals or mini albums....makes a great accent or mini page.

where have i been......

where have i been....on a special journey that started 3 months ago and will last a lifetime.....Helping with these 2 guys......born premature Feb 5, 2013 .......we are blessed to have their mom (our daughter) and them live with us so we can help. What an adventure 2 babies are twice the joy, worry and work. and when one of them smiles your heart just melts.......

Feb 12
 Luke     April 29            Evan
Luke
we also had Janice and her 3 girls stay with us for 7 weeks so quite a house full....

some more Clearsnap fun

i used ancient page black ink and embossed the simple flowers. then colored with smooch  in siren, gold lame and  sugar berry. then i used each to on the single stamp i made by cutting off the end simple flower molding mat then mounting on cling mount foam and stamped on card to form 1st layer of background.

I used golden fluid acrylic green paint on edges and around flowers below. i used a Christy Tomlinson stencil and log cabin smooch spritz, chestnut roan chalk ink, and sparrow mix'd media inx chox for the browns.
I really meant for it to be just the flowers for a back ground but i just wanted to play with my fun stuff and i love collage.....we will do this as a fun background in my art journal class.

and the finished card i did add a little white paint but i think i like it better without it....??? bright and happy no matter what!
